Good Evening.

First I would like to thank you all for attending our A.G.M this evening, and I would also like to thank all the Officers and Committee members of the Club for their support in my second year of being Chairman.

We have enjoyed another successful year. After a slow start we still managed to achieve 52% profit compared to 52.9% last year and I feel like this is a very good achievement and I would like to thank Martin and his team for all the hard work they have put into the club this year.

The premises costs are slightly higher during the year which is primarily due to the resurfacing of the car park and side entrance. Everyone I have spoken to have commented on what a good job that is and how well it looks.

Entertainment

In January 2017 we had a very successful Burn's night with the Up-Avon military wives choir entertaining us, this was a very enjoyable evening ( I would like to thank Norman and Irene for making this evening a success ) and I would hope we can put this on again next year.

In April 2017 the committee put on a free function which included a ploughman's meal. However I was very disappointed that only 50-60 club members attended when we've got a membership of over 569. I would also like to mention the Cabaret Evening that was held in September. It was a very enjoyable evening for those who attended but again it was not well supported

On your behalf, I would like to thank Carol for all the work she has put in to organising these functions. They wouldn't have happened without you. Thanks also go to Keith Horsfall for helping me out over Christmas period with the draw and Boxing Day events also for being the ‘Caller’ at the Club Bingo sessions. Finally a thank you goes to Becky Cox for her help over the festive period by doing the shopping for the Draw Prizes and also for her impromptu planning for a very successful May Day Open Day we had a few weeks ago.

Refurbishing

Your committee are currently in the process of costing the refurbishment for the chairs and other seating in the bar and they are sourcing new chairs for the main hall.

Last but not least I would like to thank Phil Robinson, who is standing down as our Club Treasurer, for all the hard work he has put into the club over the years.

I would ask members to consider joining the committee so that we can take the club further making it stronger and more successful.

DT Williams

CHAIRMAN
